A Saturday Night Out With School Friends At A Local Bar And Grill Results In Hazardous Drinking And Alcohol Poisoning Symptoms

When Lois was in high school, she had established a reputation as a studious individual who rarely, if ever, had fun drinking with her pals. She seemed almost obsessed about "standing out" academically so that she would be able to find a career that she not only liked but one that also gave her a degree of financial security.

After Lois finished high school, she applied to and was accepted into an esteemed program in philosophy. Her rationale for this decision was that this subject would be a good springboard for law school and would not be comparable to the bulk of law school applicants who decide to take political science as their undergraduate major.

Lois was the kind of individual who worked in a diligent manner to finish what she started and then would take a breather when she could. As is the case, however, a good number of the things she did between school sessions or during summer breaks did not have anything to do with drinking. Evidently, Lois was anything but a party-girl. Now that her final examinations for her second year in law school were over and feeling proud of the fact that she had done extremely well on her exams, because of this, she wanted to let her hair down and have some fun.

So Lois and some of her friends from the university went to a local pub where they had a few glasses of wine. As the evening went by, Lois and her pals continued to drink. In truth, she was having such a great time that she didn't want the night to come to an end.

After drinking around forty-five minutes when Lois started to speak in a confused manner, slur her words, and then fall unconscious, in spite of this, her friends promptly knew that they needed to call that they needed to call the emergency number and ask for emergency assistance because they thought that Lois was manifesting alcohol poisoning symptoms.

Lois was attentive to the fact that she had dodged a bullet and almost died from an alcohol overdose and, as a result, was grateful to be alive. At the same time, however, she was somewhat depressed knowing that she had almost passed away the previous night. Her Mom and Dad were aware how hard she worked at school and how little she let herself experience a social life. Nevertheless, they also were aware that Lois needed to steer clear of abusive and unhealthy drinking.

Consequently, they suggested that down the road, whenever a drinking situation arises, that she always drink responsibly. Lois was fine with this and promised her friends and her Mom and Dad that she would never again drink in an abusive and irresponsible manner. In Lois's own words, "I never thought that I might become one of the alcohol poisoning statistics in the local university newspaper. I now realize that excessive and hazardous drinking is not for me. I say publicly that this will never happen again."

Fortunately, Lois was not only "book smart" but she also had. Stated more explicitly, she quickly knew that she had made a mistake and decided that she would never make the same error again. If truth be told, she now knew that she had involved herself in "binge drinking" and that even one instance of this type of careless and irresponsible drinking can end in a loss of life.
